Unlike many other sites that offer a photo of the day, here at Green Martini we feel any image you upload should be considered for this award. Each evening at midnight our website brain "Olive" will review every image on the site and take into consideration a great many factors such as:

  • Number of comments
  • Total number of views
  • Speed at which views and comments were added
  • "Love it" votes ("Hate it" votes are ignored by Olive)
  • Number of favorites by members and moderators
  • If more than a single person is credited for the image

Note that Olive will ignore any of the above items if made by anyone credited on an image. Meaning you cannot comment or favorite your own image to improve your photo's position in her mind.

No humans have the ability to directly change Olive's mind on things, so when thanking people for your win, you are thanking every member of Green Martini.
